What is an Emergency?

A life threatening emergency is a person (s) who is unconscious, not breathing, has uncontrolled bleeding, is experiencing chest pain lasting two (2) minutes or more, or is having an altered mental status due to uncontrolled diabetic complications.

A non-life threatening emergency is a person who is hurt or ill but in stable condition, mentally alert and out of immediate danger.

How will Southeast Emergency Medical Services help me?

SEEMS will send a team of paramedics and medical technicians who have been trained and certified to provide medical and personal assistance to the patient.

Southeast Emergency Medical Service paramedics are qualified to perform lifesaving procedures such as: Initiating Intravenous Lines (IVs), administer medications, perform cardiac monitoring, insert breathing tubes, and deliver babies.

How fast will SEEMS respond?

State law requires that an ambulance be enroute within two (2) minutes.

What happens when the SEEMS team arrives on scene?

They will secure the area around the patient to allow access for treatment.

They will perform a physical assessment and treatment of illness and/or injuries, which could include one or more of the following:

  • Clear throat and airways
  • Apply oxygen
  • Stop bleeding
  • Replace fluids
  • Support broken limbs or spine
  • Administer medications as necessary

They will then prepare to transport the patient. This involves comforting the patient as best as possible under the circumstances. Securing the patient to the stretcher and then transport  to the destination intended.

Lyle Welch

Owner

Lyle attended Henderson State University and became a paramedic on February 21, 1996.

I started my EMS career here in Monticello on April 1, 1996 and have been here working on an ambulance since, with the exception of 6 months working at MEMS in Little Rock.

I am married to a wonderful wife, Kim Fenton Welch. I have four awesome children:

Shea Welch, who is planning on starting her junior year of college at Henderson State University in the fall.

Tyler Welch, an upcoming basketball star at Emmit High School.

Kayla Fenton who attends Monticello schools.

Jordan Welch, the youngest of the four.

The rest of my family here is Monticello and are just as wonderful.

Dorothy Sharp always has words of encouragement. Bob Fenton helps in the office and does some of our mechanic work.

Susan Hollinger works in the office. Her husband, Hank, drives our basic truck when needed. Ricky Fenton, mechanic.

My parents, Bud and Carolyn Welch live in Arkadelphia, they have been a tremendous help and huge support. Sometimes I even have to ask my them for advice.
