Southeast Emergency Medical Services, Inc. was officially born May 12, 2006.
SEEMS was created with the intention of being a self-supporting entity, serving the city of Monticello and Drew County Arkansas.SEEMS does not receive any public funds or subsidies from the areas in which it serves.
SEEMS is governend by the Emergency Medical Services Commission and its service areas include Monticello and Drew County.
Southeast Emergency Medical Services consists of four paramedic ambulances and one basic ambulance. All are equipped with state-of-the-art emergency medical equipment. The entire fleet is maintained by a maintenance certified mechanic.
What is an Emergency?
A life threatening emergency is a person (s) who is unconscious, not breathing, has uncontrolled bleeding, is experiencing chest pain lasting two (2) minutes or more, or is having an altered mental status due to uncontrolled diabetic complications.
A non-life threatening emergency is a person who is hurt or ill but in stable condition, mentally alert and out of immediate danger.
How will Southeast Emergency Medical Services help me?
SEEMS will send a team of paramedics and medical technicians who have been trained and certified to provide medical and personal assistance to the patient.
Southeast Emergency Medical Service paramedics are qualified to perform lifesaving procedures such as: Initiating Intravenous Lines (IVs), administer medications, perform cardiac monitoring, insert breathing tubes, and deliver babies.
How fast will SEEMS respond?
State law requires that an ambulance be enroute within two (2) minutes.
What happens when the SEEMS team arrives on scene?
They will secure the area around the patient to allow access for treatment.
They will perform a physical assessment and treatment of illness and/or injuries, which could include one or more of the following:
- Clear throat and airways
- Apply oxygen
- Stop bleeding
- Replace fluids
- Support broken limbs or spine
- Administer medications as necessary
They will then prepare to transport the patient. This involves comforting the patient as best as possible under the circumstances. Securing the patient to the stretcher and then transport to the destination intended.
